This is exactly the type of issue that Democrats need to blast Republicans on. Cross posted from Seeing the Forest:
The Republicans filibustered, obstructed, refused to allow "an up-or-down vote," blocking a bill that "would have placed strict limits on National Guard and reserve deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as mandating more downtime at home before active-duty combat troops are returned to battle."
Americablog also covered the story but a google search failed to turn up any stories from the M$M. Have any of the Democratic contenders challenged Bush or the Republican Party for obstructing a bill that would benefit American soldiers?
Digby is asking the Democratic Party to take off the gloves:
The first step is to expose the obstruction to the American people. Let's urge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to force a real filibuster. Keep the bills on the floor and force vote after vote, exposing the obstructionists. We'll organize in states across the country to insure that their constituents know exactly who is standing in the way of progress.
There's an undeclared war against homeless American citizens going on in Orange County California.
Check out the crazy old bastard at the Santa Ana City Council meeting. There's another meeting tonight that will be much better.
Stay tuned.
Time to take off the kid gloves. The overall conduct of the My DD community was exemplary in Chris's goody two shoes diary yesterday. Well Mr. Rogers won't win any elections in today's political climate.
There are two basic rules:
1. If you haven't got something nasty to say about a Dem candidate, don't say it.
2. Any attempt at making a postive case for any Dem candidate will be troll rated into oblivion.
Feel free to bash any Dem candidate. I merely picked on Obama and Edwards because they are the favorites of the Netroots and have loads of sockpuppet supporters participating in our grand national discourse on the 2008 Presidential election.
